Jay West

Jay is a highly accomplished scientist with expertise in molecular biology, microfluidics, and diagnostics. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions as an inventor and leader in the development of commercial products. In 2005, Jay co-founded Arcxis Biotechnologies and served as the Chief Technology Officer. Under his guidance, the company achieved remarkable milestones before its sale in 2010. During his tenure, Jay led a team that created innovative solutions in the biotechnology field. Later, Jay joined Fluidigm as the Senior Director of R&D, where he played a pivotal role in driving transformative advancements. He led the development of groundbreaking technologies, including the C1 and Polaris systems, which revolutionized the field of molecular biology. Continuing his entrepreneurial journey, Jay became the founding CEO and is currently the CTO of BioSkryb Genomics. Here, his focus was on the transformative development of the core technology called primary template-directed amplification (PTA). This technology paved the way for the creation of single omic and multiomic products, enabling a deeper understanding of tumor evolution and pathology. Jay's research contributions are widely recognized and reflected in his publications in prestigious scientific journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Cell, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Genetics, and Science.
