Neev’s mom, Misha, was also invited to the Biden Cancer Moonshot Childhood Cancer Forum scheduled for Friday, September 22, 2023, at the White House. This event built on the previous year’s forum and aimed to bring together various stakeholders in the oncology community, including advocates, patients, caregivers, oncologists, researchers, and administration officials. The forum’s purpose is to share updates on key policies and initiatives from both public and private sectors, as well as to generate solutions that will advance progress in childhood cancer treatment and care. This collaborative effort aligned with President Biden and the First Lady’s overall goal to call to end cancer as we know it, focusing on delivering better outcomes for all patients and families affected by childhood cancer.
Neev’s mom Misha was invited to participate in the Cancer Moonshot Brain Cancers Forum on May 25, 2023, focusing on Glioblastoma (GBM) and the inaugural Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) forum. This event brings together a focused group of 20 diverse stakeholders to advance progress against these aggressive brain cancers. Key objectives include identifying challenges, sharing research, and generating public commitments. The forum aligns with the Biden administration’s goal to end cancer and reinforces the foundation’s commitment to research, awareness, and advocacy for pediatric brain cancer.
Neev’s mom Misha was invited to attend the Cancer Moonshot Childhood Cancer Forum on Friday, September 23, 2022. This significant event united patients, caretakers, oncologists, and administration officials to discuss progress on key initiatives in childhood cancer. The forum served as a platform for the community to express their concerns and learn about advancements in data sharing, drug development, research, and patient navigation. President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden emphasized their commitment to driving meaningful change in tackling childhood cancer, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in this fight.
Sahil Mehta, Sahil Mehta, the NKBR Youth Chapter leader for Neev Kolte & Brave Ronil, successfully hosted the first-ever American Cancer Society Relay For Life at Irvington High School in Fremont in May 2024. This impactful event brought together participants from the high school and the community to honor childhood cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and raise funds as part of the #GoldTogether initiative. These donations support cancer research and patient care and demonstrate the incredible impact when people of all ages come together to support the fight against childhood cancer.
Neev’s mom, Misha and aunt, Prachi with Ronil’s mom, Manisha, participated in the Alliance for Childhood Cancer Action Days. This was an annual advocacy event that brought together the childhood cancer community to advocate for important issues before Congress. The event aimed to bring together patients, caregivers, advocates, and others to share their stories and ensure the voices of children with cancer are heard by policymakers. It was an opportunity for the community to directly impact policy discussions and decisions related to childhood cancer research, treatment, and support.
Sahil Mehta, the Youth Leader of the NKBR Youth Chapter, led impactful fundraising and awareness initiatives throughout the 2024 school year to support pediatric cancer patients and their families. As part of his high school’s cancer awareness club, Childhood Cancer Crusaders, Sahil organized popular after-school snack sales, raising significant funds for NKBR to support cancer research and patient services. Expanding beyond the school, Sahil and his Scout troop conducted a community awareness campaign, engaging local residents and raising donations. The funds were used to purchase children’s books and game consoles, and to create art and personal hygiene kits for young patients and their families at Stanford Pediatric Hospital, providing comfort and support during difficult times. Sahil’s leadership and the collective efforts of the NKBR Youth Chapter fostered a spirit of empathy and community involvement, making a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by childhood cancer. We are proud of their commitment to raising awareness and supporting vital research and patient care through these meaningful initiatives.
